Lee French - Our very own Derbyshire times Chesterfield champion!
I am Lee French, General Manager of Motorseeker UK, used vehicle specialists in Land Rover, 4x4, sports and prestige. Operating from our showroom on Sheffield Road, Whittington Moor in Chesterfield, we have been in business since 2007, enjoying year on year growth and commercial success. I have worked in and around Chesterfield for the past 25 years within the motor trade and for the most part with David Merifield (business owner) at his previous family owned vehicle franchise, the Blake Group. So when I was approached by David to start the Motorseeker UK business, I already knew that I was returning to Chesterfield to build upon a fantastic local business presence with a strong family heritage.
At Motorseeker UK, we have always invested heavily in customer care, this being repaid with referrals and customers returning time and time again to renew their vehicles. They know to expect honesty and integrity from our sales team who provide professional no nonsense expertise and advice. We have built an excellent and enviable reputation for our knowledge of the Land Rover product enabling us to provide accurate, timely appraisals of our customers’ vehicles for part exchange or sale or return purposes, as well as sourcing the perfect vehicle and finance for their personal and commercial needs. I am also fortunate to have an MD of the business who is professionally qualified as a Chartered Secretary. David has also held the office of President of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce for 2 years and continues as a Non-Executive Director and consequently is a great sounding board for business advice.
Originally from Derbyshire, I am 45 years of age and live in north Nottinghamshire with my wife, 2 children, cat and 3 dogs. I am passionate about outdoor pursuits and spend my family time horse riding, trials biking, cycling, clay pigeon shooting and exploring the brilliant network of green lanes in my Land Rover Defender. Working in Chesterfield has enabled me to explore the beautiful Peak District and this is where I love to enjoy the local countryside and leisure pursuits. We also have a great choice of eateries, with easy access to some wonderful restaurants and pubs in and around Chesterfield itself.
Chesterfield is an exciting place to be in business and has provided a fantastic base from which to operate Motorseeker UK. Our Land Rover and 4x4 vehicle profile is ideally suited to people who live and work in the local area and many of our customers are from farming and agricultural backgrounds as well as trade based professions. Our knowledge of towing and off-road vehicles is particularly important for our equestrian clientele and those who are involved in fishing, shooting and other outdoor activities. We also benefit from an ideal geographical position, with easy access to Sheffield, Leeds, Nottingham and Manchester and surrounding localities providing an invaluable reach for our business.
Chesterfield has an incredibly promising future to look forward to. I am particularly pleased to see the amazing renovation work being carried out on the Chesterfield Canal. Running for 46 miles to the middle of town, the 220 year old Cuckoo Way towpath provides a wonderful place to explore for walkers and cyclists. With the canal basin development at Chesterfield Waterside, there are plans to hold canal boating festivals and similar events and will no doubt provide an incredible boost to our local economy. With the array of proposed developments in place, I can’t see anything other than an exciting, bright outlook for Chesterfield and I am very proud for our Motorseeker UK business to be a part of this.
